Mr. Uhlein, a philanthropist and avid waterfowler hunted all over North America. Outstanding paint and form sets this example apart from the rest of the wooden flock. Bottom reads, “Duncan Ducharme, 1956., St. Ambrois Manitoba”. A white label on the metal keel reads, “Gaylord Rig”. 1200-1800 345B. Drake canvasback by Duncan Ducharmes in very good condition. Paint appears original. Also from the collection of David Uhlein. Appears to be from a different period and rig than the prior lot. Great form. An article tacked to the bottom and wrapped around the wooden keel goes into depth about the history of these classic decoys.
